History

For several years the Colorado Chapter of the National MS Society hosted the 3-Day Challenge Walk as a way to raise funds and awareness. In 2005 the Chapter discontinued the Challenge Walk, choosing instead to focus on the MS 150 bike tour and 5k walk events. A core group of 15 long-time supporters did not want to see this remarkable and life-changing event come to an end. They got together and, with the full support of the Chapter, decided to take on the challenge of organizing it themselves.

The Wild West MS Walkabout was born!

In August, 2006 the inaugural event was held, raising more than $80,000 for multiple sclerosis. In the three years of this event, the WWMSW has raised over one quarter of a million dollars to benefit people living with MS. Many of the original organizers still serve on the Walkabout's Steering Committee.
