History

For several years the Colorado Chapter of the National MS Society hosted the 3-Day Challenge Walk as a way to raise funds and awareness. In 2005 the Chapter discontinued the Challenge Walk, choosing instead to focus on the MS 150 bike tour and 5k walk events. A core group of 15 long-time supporters did not want to see this remarkable and life-changing event come to an end. They got together and, with the full support of the Chapter, decided to take on the challenge of organizing it themselves as a third party event. The Wild West MS Walkabout was born. In August, 2006 the inaugural event was held, raising more than $80,000 for multiple sclerosis. All of the original organizers still serve on the Walkabout's Steering Committee.
