We're kicking into high gear as we plan our
third Wild West MS Walkabout. It's hard to
believe that in just three short years we've
almost doubled in size and raised a quarter
of a million dollars for MS. We can't think
of a better reason to celebrate so we're
having a Washington's Birthday Sale. Two for
one registrations! They're even retroactive.
See below for all the details.
We're also pleased to announce a new
beneficiary and a new addition to our
Steering Committee. This year, Christy
Scheese replaces our much beloved Sharon
DeNiear as Event Coordinator.

Washington's Birthday Sale

2 for 1 registration fees
We love a good sale & we're celebrating
Washington's Birthday with a 2 for 1 deal on
registration for the next two weeks. The
sale closes out on Sunday, March 9th - the
first day of Daylight Savings Time!
Here's the scoop.
Register
yourself and a friend during the two week
period and we'll throw in the second
registration for FREE! A $40 value. Just
select the "Two For One" option when you
register two people through our website. It's
that easy.
Remember
-- you can use Active.com to set up a
personal or team website and accept online
donations.
If you have already registered, no worries.
Just register one new walker through the
website. Like a friend or a family member.
Then send an email
to mswalkabout@gmail.com with your name and
the new name
and we'll credit $40 back to the card
you used when you registered. If you gave us
cash or a check, we'll send you a $40
rebate.
And don't forget, all it takes to create a
Walkabout team is four people, a team name
and a Captain!

Announcing A New Beneficiary
|
|
We are pleased to announce that the Rocky
Mountain MS Center will receive 20% of
the proceeds of the 2008 Walkabout.
The mission of the MS Center is to help
people living with MS and their families lead
a quality life by providing individualized
care, support, education and research. By
combining patient care
care services, education and research into
one comprehensive program, the MS Center
accomplishes its mission and improves the
quality of life for MS patients. This
multi-faceted approach to chronic disease has
served as a model for other institutes around
the country.
Programs include adult day care for severely
disabled patients, a rehab clinic, the
largest brain tissue bank in the nation,
hydrotherapy, nationally recognized education
programs including MS 101 and 102 for the
newly diagnosed, and the Complementary and
Alternative Medicine (CAM) online community
with over 30,000 registered users.

Get Involved!
|
|
|
In addition to walkers, we also need lots and
lots of volunteers to make the Walkabout a
success. If you would like to help, please
contact Maureen Stockover:
stockover@aol.com.
Help is needed to distribute fliers, set-up,
work at rest stops, monitor the route, serve
meals, and (of course) with the Finish Line
Fesitval and clean-up. The
more the merrier. For a more complete list
of volunteer jobs visit the Volunteer section
of our website.

From Our New Event Coordinator
|
|
Christy Scheese
Okay. I usually smile a lot more than this
picture indicates!
If we haven't met, you'll find that out in
August.
I've been volunteering for the MS Society for
the past 15 years. I got involved because a
professor I used to work for has MS. This
person has been my greatest inspiration. I
get involved any way I can so that one day
we'll find a cure.
It was a sad day
when the MS Society decided they couldn't
continue the 3 Day Challenge Walk. I jumped
at the opportunity to become involved in
planning the Wild West MS Walkabout. I'm
excited about my role as the new Event
Coordinator.
I can promise you one
of the
best experiences of your life -- so grab your
family and friends and come join
us. And send me an email anytime:
mswalkabout@gmail.com.
See you
soon!
Christy
