Wild West Walkabout

Kendra Driemeyer named Walker Coordinator

KendraWe've got some great news to share with you!  In fact it's so great that we thought we'd send out a special email blast.  Wild West MS Walkabout Steering Committee member Kendra Driemeyer has agreed to be our Walker Coordinator.  Here she is with her husband, Tom, at the Pirates' Festival on Grand Cayman Island.

Kendra started to walk for MS in 1995 in memory of her brother who passed away at age 50 due to complications from multiple sclerosis. She completed her first 50-mile, 3-day Challenge Walk in 2003.   "My husband, Tom, saw an ad for it and thought it was a great idea. He was right and I had an amazing time," says Kendra. "In the Fall of 2005, with 14 other walkers and supporters, we created the Wild West MS Walkabout.  It was a great success in 2006 and we hope to make it even better in 2007!"

Kendra hopes to encourage everyone to have FUN raising money and training.  She'll be planning some get-togethers so walkers can meet and help each other with training and fundraising goals. "We invite everyone to walk or crew with us." Says Kendra. "You'll have so much fun on the Walkabout that you'll hardly be able to wait for the next one!"

Kendra will be on the job starting March 30th.  It's an unpaid, all-volunteer job so if you can lend Kendra a hand, just let her know.  Her responsibilities will include recruiting, maintaining regular personal contact with all of the walkers, and providing one-on-one training and fundraising tips.  She'll also be organizing mixers and training walks and managing our Mentor Program.  You can reach Kendra at
kdriemeyer@hotmail.com.

Drop her a line with any ideas - or just to say hello!
